Ok I have been giving this question a lot of thought, it’s the doodles. I know there are others out there doodling, I know there are others that thrive on creating digital art as much if not more than your run of the mill watercolor. don’t get me wrong I love my watercolors love-making them love creating them in real-time. But digital, like spell check it completes me and it must complete others as well. So there are seeds for a movement. Just like I know there are too many stars for there not to be intelligent life out there in space there are too many creatives with ipads and tablets to not be creating amazing work that is working it’s way out. So the stage so to speak.
So then my question become how do you get it to grow and connect with others and become a force instead of a lone doodler. I look at Picasso and how he got the cubism movement really moving but he wasn’t the only one moving that direction durring that time. combine talent with his ability to mass produce, market and socialize for those times was amazing, even now he would rock the scene.
So apply that to today and you can start to see a formula.
First you have to produce and a lot this is not the type of thing that will take a mean hundred but we are talking 5000 from one artist. Hard to think of that much work but breaking it down and making it apart of life, and hence you have that modern-day artist. Unfortunately this isn’t to get money and and creating work that one one sees… well just like in the app world, if it’s doesn’t sell it’s like it was never there. So that goes into the next level, getting it out there and accessible by everyone.
If you visit my site you will see I don’t watermark my art, they are pretty big so it’s very easy to borrow. And I think that is where open source and shareware ideas also have been very successful. So its proven to work and getting things out there. But again no money, wish there was an easier way, but now we move into production of products and this is where I am at.
I hand make everything from my 1 inch buttons to my wood plaques of my doodles. But I am limited on what I can make. This is a true cross roads for me. I would love to find a small local company that could mass product my stuff but if I do that I want it from recycled stuff, like reclaimed wood from pallets and construction sites. plastic turned into charms with my doodles on them of course. But I’m sure something will evolve.
So then its a matter of that right time right doodle type of thing…
May you have a doodle kind of day : )
